How does my campus-based federal student loan or my institutional student loan credit to my student account?
Step One The Office of Student Financial Aid will notify The Office of Student Loans if you were awarded a campus-based federal student loan such as The Federal Perkins Loan or The Federal Nursing Loan or an institutional loan such as The George C. and Laura B. McKinstry Loan or The Robert Wood Johnson Loan.
Step Two The Office of Student Loans will mail you your loan promissory note as well as other important documents that must be completed, signed, and dated.
Step Three You will return this paperwork by mail or in-person to the office; you may not return these documents by fax. No aid will be disbursed to The Office of Student Accounting until you return all of the required, completed paperwork to the Office of Student Loans.
Step Four The Office of Student Loans will review the documents that you return.
Step Five Once all of the required, completed documents have been returned, The Office of Student Loans will disburse your funds to The Office of Student Accounting no early than your disbursement date as determined by The Office of Student Financial Aid and The Office of Student Accounting.
Please remember that your Federal Stafford Student Loans are not processed by the UMC Office of Student Loans. For questions regarding your Federal Stafford Student Loans, please contact your lender; or go to ELM Resources or NSLDS.
