ADDS, DROPS, WITHDRAWALS, AND LEAVES OF ABSENCE

A student who adds hours after registration should be prepared to pay for the hours at the time they are added.  If you are receiving financial aid, you should inquire if there is any aid that has not been disbursed that will pay for the additional charges rather than assuming that the balance will be automatically taken care of by financial aid.

Dropped hours’ charges will be refunded to the student on a pro rata basis depending on when the hours are dropped.  If the original charges were paid by financial aid, then it may be necessary to return the funds to the aid program rather than refunding the funds to the student.

Withdrawals from school and leaves of absence are treated the same.  Tuition and other charges are refunded on a pro rata basis depending on how much of the term has been completed.  If the student receives financial aid, aid programs will be refunded according to federal regulations, state rules, and institutional guidelines.

Students who drop hours or who withdraw should note that in some cases the change in hours may result in cancellation of aid that had been applied to your student account.  Therefore, you may have to return funds that were previously given to you because you now are not eligible for the aid.
